After the founder Masanori Muramatsu became independent from「Funasada Company」, he opened「Funasho Store」.

New Kanda Market completion and renamed Kanda Municipal Market



1941

The Great East Asia War (Pacific War) broke out. Food control was imposed on Kanda Market, effectively closing the market due to World War II. The Essential Commodities Control Act and other regulations were enacted.



1945

August 10th, the Potsdam Declaration is accepted, and the war comes to an end.



1948

Kanda Market reopened and made a new start as the wholesaler「Funasho Store」. At this time, there were 174 brokers.



1949

Became the first importer of Taiwan Banana after the world war II (sold at 30-40 yen each)



1950

Yasuto Sekino was appointed President and Representative Director.

Opened the restaurant in Mansei-bashi.
Built the remarkable business with Tohoku area for supplying he items from other areas, then gradually became like a naka-oroshi company.

A banana ripening room was established on the banks of the Sakuma River in Kanda Market.

A combined residence and banana processing facility was completed in Komagome.

Due to overcrowding, the north entrance of Kanda Market was transformed into a multi-level structure. The rise of supermarkets began.

A second banana processing facility was established in Hanahata. It also handled transportation, serving as a logistics hub. The “Maebashi Branch” and “Mito Branch” were opened.

Funasho Co., Ltd., established with the absorption merger of Funadai Co., Ltd.

New Market Act promulgated
According to the act, “Nakagainin” term was replaced as “Nakaoroshi” (certified wholesaler)



1974

Separated the import section and established “Funasho Shoji Co., Ltd.”



1976

Funasho became the first exemplary corporation of Kanda Market.



1980

Funasho expanded into mass retailers and appointed a dedicated supervisor for supermarkets. An unusually cool summer led to a poor rice harvest, causing winter vegetables to be priced at ten times the previous year’s levels.



1982

At the Hanahata Banana Processing Facility, the nation’s first computerized processing equipment was completed.



1983

Computers were introduced in the accounting department. To prepare for the mass retailers’ data, Funasho strengthened its inventory management system and aimed to streamline and speed up distribution.



1988

Sekino Yasuto received commendation from the Governor of Tokyo as a distinguished contributor to the city.



1989

Heisei 1
Kanda Market relocated to Ota ward, and the inauguration ceremony for Ota Market was held. Funasho relocated its headquarters to Ota Market.



1991

Heisei 3
February: Funasho Headquarters Building in Ota Ward, Higashi-Kai, completed. Sales surpass 10 billion yen for the first time.



1992

Heisei 4
Computers were introduced to enhance efficiency in sales management. Funasho and Funasho Shoji both underwent a change in presidency. Yasuto Sekino assumed the role of chairman of both companies. Shin Sekino was appointed president and representative director.



1997

Heisei 9
Funasho celebrates its 30th anniversary since its incorporation. A commemorative magazine was published for the occasion.



1999

Heisei 11
A new association was established by 6 wholesale companies.



2004

Heisei 16
Amended Wholesale Market Act fully liberalizes purchase and collection of fresh products



2008

Heisei 20
Handy terminals were introduced, launching the first sales management system compatible with distribution BMS (Business Management System).



2011

Heisei 23
Yutaka Sekino became CEO.
Funasho Chilled Center (FCC) Logistics Center 1 commenced operation



2013

Heisei 25
Farm Station Co., Ltd., established as a wholly owned subsidiary



2017

Heisei 29
Funasho Global Cargo Co., Ltd., established as a wholly owned subsidiary
Funasho Chilled Center (FCC) Logistics Center 2 completed
TRC Logistics Center commenced operation.



2018

To expand export business, Funasho have established an overseas marketing department and launched the second generation of our sales management system.



2019

Heisei 31
Achieved ISO27001 certification. Launched recipe website「Salute Kitchen」.



2020

Reiwa 2
Sales surpassed 20 billion yen for the first time.



2022

Reiwa 4
In November, f. Dining Co., Ltd. was established. The e-commerce site “Seika” was launched.



2023

A vegetable and fruit focused restaurant named “DEK” opened in Tokyo, Aoyama.
